The Moon

Night. The water has captured the moon in reflection. It holds your attention now. Your shadow looms over the water, enormous. The moon so close you could pull it from the water like a coin from a wishing well. Borrowed brilliance. But what’s this? You reach under the water. You can feel the firm outline of something in the sand. A coin! It is a picture of the thing you want. Will you hold fast to the reflection, or turn your eyes to what is real?
